How to become a sworn translator?

How to become a sworn translator?

The first requirement to become a sworn translator is to be a Turkish citizen.

The second condition is to have documents that can prove your knowledge of foreign language. These documents can be diplomas, transcripts, language proficiency certificates. The documents that you will submit to the notary public must be in Turkish and original. Notaries do not accept photocopied documents. If your document is not in Turkish, they will ask for a notarized translation. This translation must also be the ORIGINAL. They will not accept a photocopy of a notarized translation, regardless of color or black and white output.

In addition, notary publics will ask you for an up-to-date criminal record certificate.

Some notary publics may also request a certificate of domicile (residence).

If you meet all these criteria, you can become a sworn translator. But remember that the final decision rests with the notary public. If the notary public you are applying to does not need a sworn translator, they may not give you a certificate of oath.
